Sept 2026 STLMQG Meeting Recap: 

President Kristina Olsen kicked off the meeting at 10:03am on September 12, 2026 

Balance as of 9/12/26 $28,627.58 and membership is up to 216!

Announcements: 

    • QuiltCon 2027 in Atlanta, GA

    • Dee Bushrod - Pixel Quilts exhibit at Missouri Quilt Museum in Hamilton, MO

    • Winter Wonderland Quilt Retreat February 6-11th. All inclusive Quilt retreat at LaSalle Retreat Center in Wildwood, MO. Registration due 9/15. Contact Kim at 314-306-3014 with questions. 

    • The City Sewing Room announces that Liz Henning has been named the non-profit organization's first Executive Director.

    • Pets on Quilts competition - see slides for link

    • Want to be featured on our STLMQG member spotlight? Reach out to the VP (Ander) to get started!

    • Did you or someone in the guild have a professional quilty win? Send it to us so that we may announce it at our meetings.

By-law revision vote
    • Details for what was voted on is in the slides 

    • The members in attendance voted in favor of the by-law revisions

    • Election for the new positions as well as the VP and Treasurer positions will be held in January with new positions starting in Feb.

    • Oct Block is Courthouse Steps. November - assemble your quilt top! Full details are on the website

Committee Announcements: 
    • Social

      • The Bocce ball event was a success! Thanks, Tess, for teaching everyone how to play! 

      • Jackman’s Sew Day on November 21st 10a-5pm - registration is open now. This is free to members. 

      • Save the Date: Dec. 4 at St. Louis Art Museum to enjoy the Women Impressionists and the Land special exhibition. More details to come. 

    • Charity

      • The Hope Ignites school supply drive was a success. Thank you for your donations! 

      • We have a goal of 21 twin size quilts for Hope Ignites. We have about 15 quilts, so keep them coming. Quilts will be collected at SewMe and at the November meeting. 

    • 2027 QuiltCon Community Outreach Challenge 

      • Blocks must be returned by the SewMe Retreat. The blocks can also be mailed but must be posted by 10/1. 

    • SewMe

      • October 9-11 at Marriott West Maryville 

      • Friday and Saturday are sold out - but please join the waitlist. Plans change and seats may open up! There are still spots available for Sunday

      • Please pay if you have not done so already. 

      • Will, the scissor sharpening guy, will be there Saturday only - $10/pair. Bring cash!

      • Annie is trying to get more rooms added to the SewMe room block - check with her if you are still interested in a room. However, the hotel is not sold out (just the room block), so you can still book a room if needed.

      • Volunteers needed!  Sign Up Genius is open!

      • Reminder - no October meeting because of SewMe

Mid Century Modern Challenge 
      • Winners:

Member Announcements: 
    • Melissa Egan is raffling a quilt for American Foudnation for Suicide Prevention. Tickets start at $5. Reach out to her if you would like to enter. The raffle will be held at the end of Sept. 

    • Spirit of St. Louis Smockers are having an auction on Nov. 8 at the Webster Community Center. The funds raised will go to premature and NICU babies.

    • Loose Threads quilt guild show at St. Peters Rec Plex on Nov 7-8.

    • The Circle in the Square Quilters are having a program and workshop on using panels. The program is at 6:30p on Oct 23 at U-City library. Workshop is 9:30-3:30 on Oct 24 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. The program is free and the workshop is $55.

The meeting ended with Show and Share and announcement of attendance and fabric raffle winners.
