• • QuiltCon 2027 in Atlanta, GA

  • Dee Bushrod - Pixel Quilts exhibit at Missouri Quilt Museum in Hamilton, MO

  • Winter Wonderland Quilt Retreat February 6-11th. All inclusive Quilt retreat at LaSalle Retreat Center in Wildwood, MO. Details and application will be available in recap email. $750, limited to 20 people. The form to apply is attached to the recap email. 

  • Want to be featured on our STLMQG member spotlight? Reach out to the VP (Ander) to get started!

  • Did you or someone in the guild have a professional quilty win? Send it to us so that we may announce it at our meetings.

By law revision proposal 

• • Board proposing amended bylaws to add a Communications Director and 2 members at large. There are 3 slides with many more details in the monthly meeting slide deck and the full by-law amendment will be sent with this month’s recap and posted on our site for review. We will vote as a guild on the amendment at the September meeting. Please read carefully and be ready.

  • • Bocce Ball get together is August 22get together - see slide for all details 

    • • Sign up has closed, but there is plenty of space left for those who still may want to come 

    • Save the Date! Jackman’s Sew Day (at the Creve Coeur location) November 21 10a-5p

    • • Free for members!  

      • Sign ups will open after September meeting

  • • Mid Century Modern - see slides for full details 

    • • Items will be due at the September meeting 

      • The challenge committee is looking for judges - let Marianne Belcke know if you are interested 

  • Charity

  • • Our 2026 charity is Hope Ignites 

    • • We are collecting quilts (twin to twinXL) for teens ages 12-18. See slides for full details. Quilts will be accepted through the November meeting

      • We are also helping collect school supplies for the students in their program. If you’d like to donate, shop their Amazon list 

    • KeyWay Center 

    • • Laura Patterson shared a thank you letter and card for the $1,000 donation the Guild made to their work. The money we donated was made possible by the raffle of our past QuiltCon Community Outreach quilt and by the tremendous success of our 2026 quilt show. Speaking of the Community Outreach quilt… 

  • 2027 Community Outreach Quiltcon Challenge is here!

  • • Leila Gardunia has once again designed a beautiful quilt for the guild to put together.

    • • An image of the finished quilt mockup can be found in the slide deck

      • This quilt will be put together by members of the guild. Envelope checkout occurred at the August meeting. Each envelope includes the pattern and materials to make 1 block and should take about 30 minutes. Instructions will be included in the envelope and can also be found on the website. Blocks must be returned by the September meeting or at the SewMe Retreat. The clocks can also be mailed but must be posted by 10/1. 

  • SewMe Retreat

  • • October 9-11 at Marriott West Maryville 

    • Friday and Saturday are sold out - but please join the waitlist. Plans change and seats may open up! There are still spots available for Sunday

    • Please pay if you have not done so already. Invoices were sent Sunday for those who still owe. 

    • RAFFLE for one room for one night during the retreat. The raffle will be open until 11:00am on September 12.

    • We have rooms available in the SewMe room block at the Marriott. Use this link or call and use the code SewMe St. Louis

The Programming Committee shared some “Quilty Apps and Resources”

• • QuiltySolid

  • • This is a free app (a website is also available) that hosts a full listing of fabric colors, threads, etc with search features 

    • Can find equivalent colors across different fabric lines

    • Use your own image to pull colors and save color palettes 

  • Canva as a whiteboard

  • • Canva is a website (with a free version and paid pro version)

    • Canva can be used as a digital design board that can include images and notes and can be shared 

    • Does not give measurements or cuts but more of a design tool

  • Robert Kauffman Quilting Calculator

  • • This is an app that includes multiple quilting calculators, including a backing calculator

  • Needle Travel - a website that lists quilt shops in an area

The meeting ended with Show and Share and announcement of attendance and fabric raffle winners.
