Meeting Notes: 

President Kristina Olson kicked off the meeting at 10:02am on May 9, 2026. 

Balance as of 4/30/26 $20,172.15 and membership is up to 209! 


Upcoming Events:

    • Susan M. announced Art Quilters are NOT meeting in June.

    • June meeting - Ander will be giving a presentation on color theory - bring scraps to the meeting. There is not a size minimum on scraps.

  • Banjo Flannel (Diana Li Fitzgerland) trunk show and workshop July 24-25, 2026

    • Friday, July 24: Patchwork Sashiko trunk show

    • Saturday, July 25: Sashiko Top Embellishment workshop (info on times and price in slide show and links above) 

    • Sign ups are available now! Limited number of workshop spots available so sign up soon! 

  • 2026 BOM 

    • There is a new online form to submit monthly blocks for prizes. The BOM submission forms are on the website at the top of each month’s block info.

    • The June challenge block is Ohio star

    • Thanks to all of those who attended and to those who volunteered at the STLMQG booth!


Committee Announcements 
    • SewMe Committee

      • Save the date Oct 9-11, 2026. More info to come! 

    • Social Committee

      • SewDay at Jackman’s on May 23 10am-5pm - 3 machine seats left, 28 hand sewing seats left (as of 5/9)

      • Bocce Ball - Save the Date 8/22 at Italia American Bocce Club. This will be an afternoon event. More info to come. 

      • The Art of HYBYCOZO 6/20 4-6 at MOBOT -  We will meet at 4 for drinks/food and the event starts at 6. Sign up on WildApricot for dinner and/or event so we know how many are coming. You will need to buy your own ticket on the MOBOT site ahead of time. 

    • Quilt Show Committee

      • Mary Beth gave a wrap up of the show - see slides in recap for more details.

      • Thank you to all who volunteered! 

      • Because of the success of our Quilt Show, STLMQG has donated $1,000 each to our charities for 2024 and 2025, Epworth Children and Family Services and the Keyway Center!

      • Get ready for the next show! March 11-12, 28 @ Greensfelder. Committee sign up coming in late 2026. 

    • Challenge Committee

      • This year’s challenge is Mid Century Modern 

      • See slide or link above for more details.

      • Submissions will be due at the Sept meeting. Please note that the item does not have to be quilted to be submitted.

    • Charity Committee

      • This year’s charty is Hope Ignites in Richmond Heights.

      • STLMQG will be supporting this organization through donation of extra long twin quilts. See slides for more info on size and other guidelines.

      • Quilts accepted now through the November ‘26 meeting.

      • Don’t have resources to make a quilt on your own? Join a “Quilty Crew” to work together with 3-4 other guild members to make a quilt. See slides for more info.

      • Hope Ignites is also looking for a donation of a reliable vehicle for use in transporting scholars to meetings, school, etc. See slide for more info.

    • Swap Committee 

      • Block Swap

        • Part one: Blocks swapped at today’s meeting

        • Part two of the swap due at the August meeting - create something with the block you received in the swap


    Member Announcements 
      • Em Komiskey completed the Boston Marathon! BIG congrats to her! 

      • Marie Hill suggested a member FB marketplace group for selling items that would be exclusive to STLMQG members. More info to come as the Board takes this suggestion into consideration…

      • Octavia works with Lit Shop and is developing their textile program. If you have nicer quilting cottons that you would be willing to donate, please reach out to her.

      • Dottie Vaughn has a free 48” loom, weaving bench, and warping board that needs a home. Reach out to her for more info.

      • Tess has a friend with a list of sewing machines and items for sale. An extensive list of available items can be provided. Reach out to Tess McMahon if you are interested in more info.

      • The Guild is looking for a few more volunteers for the Welcome Committee. Please reach out to a board member if you are interested in signing up.

      • There are a couple of new items available in Member Resources on the STLMQG site:

    • Sherri Lucas led us through chair yoga for quilters and provided some follow up resources

    • The meeting ended with Show and Share and announcement of attendance and fabric raffle winners. Dismissed at 12:24pm.
