Ander, our vice president, opened the meeting at 10 a.m. Some reminders, check out the survey and order a t-shirt! (Links)

The account balance is $26,280, and our membership is at 198! Wow!

There are two board positions open come 2026! Let the board know if you’re interested and would like to run for President or Secretary.

Some housekeeping items:

  • Quintessential Quilt Show in U City is coming up, Oct 3-27.

  • We are looking for volunteers at the November meeting.

  • STL Trans Quilt Project Display - showing at tower grove pride 9/27-9/28 - link out to Insta.

  • We are sold out for Sew Me STL on Friday and Sunday! This is the first time this has happened!

Sew Me STL:

  • Cancelation policy is waived because we are sold out! If you’re needing to cancel your spot, please email Gail Luther - lutherfamily@swbell.net

  • Volunteers! Check out the Sign-Up Genius here, we would love to have you!

  • We ask members to wear their name tags and bring their own rotary cutters.

  • If you’re in a group within the guild and want to meet at Sew Me STL, please do! Coordinate amongst your group, if you’re wanting announcements made, let Susan know on Friday morning.

Special Raffle 2025

  • They donated a $700 Janome machine for the raffle! The committee discussed, and this raffle will be available through November for the entire guild. You will receive an email for when this will be live.

  • Tickets will be $5 per ticket, all proceeds will benefit Epworth Children & Family services.


Social - Open Sew Day on Saturday, Nov. 22nd at Jackman’s Fabrice 10am-5pm. This is free to members but registration is required, register online here!

MQG’s Community Challenge - pick up blocks at Sew Me STL! We will be finishing the blocks at Sew Me STL :) 

Challenge - Stripe It! Any quilted item with stripes, these are due at the Nov. meeting. There will be monetary prizes as well as participation prizes! You can submit more than one item, so go crazy! You can see all the information on the challenge here.

Swap - Favorite Things! Open to all members - an item or items that you like to have next to you when you’re sewing. Do not exceed $10! Include your name within the brown paper bag that you put your favorite things. These are due at the Nov. meeting.

Charity - The Longarm contest is going on for one more month. Please submit your quits here to win free longarming from our members who are longarmers! Winners today are Marie Hill, Laura Cox, and Marne Meredith. Thank you to our Longarming members for donating their services this month! Their information can be found on the meeting’s slides.

  • Charity quilts are all due in November! You can bring finished quilts to Sew Me and please bring them to the meeting Nov. meeting! More information on the quilts to be donated here

Quilt Show - March 14 & 15! This is Modern.

  • Vendor requests are open - deadline is Oct. 31 - contact quiltshow@stlmqg.org if you know someone who would be interested.

  • Donations needed of modern fabric for our award ribbons! Contact Kristina Olson.

  • Postcard/Advertising! Pick some of our postcards up and help us distribute and get the word out! WE will have a large list for distribution sign-up at the November meeting.

  • Charity Raffle Quilts - Guild Quilts from 2023 and 2024 Quiltcons will be raffled at the show. Proceeds will be divvied up between Keyway and Epworth.

  • You can find all of the 2026 quilt show categories here.

  • Quilt Submissions open on Dec 15 and are due Jan 15! More information at the November meeting.

Member Announcements

  • If you have fabric cut offs, bring them to Ander at Sew Me STL! They are making cat beds to donate.

  • The National Quilt Museum in Paducah has some amazing exhibits in and coming up! If you can, go check it out.

  • Candy Grisham is teaching a class called “Weave” on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 3-7 p.m. at City Sewing Room. City Sewing Room is providing the background and the fat quarters - $30ish class. Check out their website to sign up and for more information.

  • Artists First - in Maplewood! Artistsfirststl.org Check out this non-profit, they are doing great work!
