Committee Announcements


Sew Me Committee: October 10-12

  • Retreat registration closes 8/13/25

    • Friday and Saturday are wait-listed

    • Spaces will open up if members cancel

    • Sunday is open 

  • Payment is due by 8/13/25

    • If not paid on time, your reservation will be cancelled

  • You will be notified if additional hotel rooms open up

  • Volunteers are needed (sign up through 9/15)

    • Please sign up through sign-up genius

    • We still need help on Friday, Saturday and with Sunday clean-up

    • Raffle items will also be accepted at September meeting 

    • Check website for Sew Me 2025 room raffle


MQG’s Community Challenge Quilt

  • Goal: For guild members to work together to make a quilt that will be given/donated/raffled to support a local charity. 

  • Challenge: Each year guilds are given a theme and a color pallet to use. 80 of the resulting quilts are displayed at quilt con

  • Theme: Medallion Quilt

  • Our design: A minimalist, modified medallion with improvisationally pieced blocks

  • See slideshow for instructions. 108 blocks

  • Return at September meeting or Sew Me. Must be in the committee’s hands by October 10th. 

  • If mailing, mail to address on envelope.

  • Contact Leila at September meeting or SewMe with questions

Swap: Stripes

  • Challenge: Stripe It! 

  • Due: November 8th, 2025

  • Focus: Stripes. Make stripes with fabric, used striped fabric, the PRIMARY focus must be stripes. 

  • Top must be finished but it doesn’t have to be quilted/finished

  • It can be a quilt, wall hanging, apparel, etc as long as it reads s-t-r-i-p-e-s.

  • There will be monetary awards for 1st-3rd and participation prizes.

  • Look at pinterest or online for stripes ideas 


Swap: Favorite Things

  • Due November 8th

  • Place items in a brown paper bag

  • Consider things that you like to have near you while sewing

  • NOT to exceed $10.00

  • This may require some creative thinking, but we want you to have fun with it!

  • Put your name in the bag


Charity Committee

  • Congrats to August winners of the Longarm contest! Ann Philiph, Irene Kattner-Stuhrenberg, and Marie Hill

  • If you didn’t win, you can submit again for the next contest

  • Thank you to Dotty Vaughn, Debbie Bouquet, and Lilo Whitener-Fey

  • Epworth was THRILLED with the donations. “She is looking forward to September meeting. Also, the kids absolutely looooove the quilts. We only had enough for half of the boys dorm and we definitely need more boy quilts.” It's wonderful to give these kids a quilt hug. 

  • A spokesperson here from Epworth Family Services will be at the September meeting.

  • Quilts due Nov 8th.

  • Post your quilts on instagram and tag the guild @stlmqg 

  • Throws or twins for 11-19 year olds. No baby quilts. No specific length requirements. 

  • Charity Committee has a package of charity labels that can be placed on quilts. “STLmqg cares”
